It's hard to explain where you come from when you are in fact: 100% Cosmopolitan!
People just seem to identify themselves within the borders of their home countries, as if,..
For me the planet is my home country, and even that is not enough to me!
I live in the Universe, but how can I explain that? In fact, all of it, is your common ground!
So I meet this guys, and they go, we are from Iran. Where are you from? I'm like: I'm also from Iran! They start talking in Farsi,..I say, but I live in Belgium all my life!
So I meet these others, and they go, we are from Iraq, where are you from? "I'm also from Iraq!" When they start in Arabique, and I reply, they go..you sure you're not from Morroco?
You speak Arabic with a huge accent of Morocco,.. I'm like no, yes, I'm also from Morroco, but I live in Belgium all my life. To make some sense after all..
I'm getting a bit confused, and I ask them, do you guys live in a street? Yes, of course we live in a street! And I reply, or do you live in a city? Yes, yes, a city! I'm like, are you telling me lies, two seconds ago you were from a country? Do you live in a street, a city or a country?
Tell me honestly?! Yes, also in the city and also in the country of Iraq. And then, they give me that look, like I am the crazy one talking!? Are you kidding me?! And by the way, why do you call that land Iraq? Did you give it that name? No, it was Iraq long before, we know.
People get so easily involved in rules and regulations, of someone else's inventions..
And than I meet this group from Congo, they ask me,: "Where are you from?" I don't really have a clue, so I say,: "Me? I'm from Congo too!" They give me an awkward look so I say,: "Mbote ndeko! Yaka awa? Loba na yoo,..Ʃ loko moko tƩh! To say the least. That's for sure.
Before I came here, I was the Nkumu (leader) of the Jungle, I lived in the biggest house,..
(This house is more beautiful than that one over there.)
Because it doesn't have a roof, or even walls,..other houses are mostly, Boloko!
(als een gevangenis)

And then I meet this couple from India, visiting Antwerp for the first time.
Wonderful and friendly people, stuck inside the conditions of their country..
They almost instantly ask me, ..you from?
I already see where this is going, so before things even get started.
I just flip that phrase on the table:
"Ve teri meri ek, Jindadi !" (Besides all differences, we are one!)
